Hat Trends for Spring/Summer 2018

Spring summer trends for MEN and WOMEN.

Fisherman’s hats and bucket hats are strong for both sexes; the new ‘Dad’ hats - a favourite with fashionistas also shows up for both men and women.

There is an almost outdoors feel for men where colours are neutral with camo patterns become digital and utility fabrics come to the fore. In the summer, fabrics become brighter and nature and tropical prints take over.  A summer version of the newsboy cap, alongside the baseball cap as well as ‘Dad’ hats are strongest.

Desert- inspired styles and textured straws are classic with an urban twist with style or colour.  Boaters and panamas together with textured trilbies and fedoras look summertime cool.

Overall, peaked caps, bucket hats and fisherman hats were a favourite on women’s catwalks fabrications were two-tone, floral and printed cottons, coloured and textured straw, prints and lots of crochet.

Turbans, head wraps, and tied fabric headbands in prints are very much the summer’s highlight.

Apart from the RTW trends there seems to be a feel for very 'lady-like' dressing for the summer, inspired by labels like Delpozo where a very feminine, slightly girlish look is accessorized with large straw bows in sherbet colours – elegant headwear pieces like this will be a look that is perfect for summer weddings and events.
